YA Authors Melissa Walker, Barry Lyga, and Michael Northrop come to our South Slope location to read from their YA novels and discuss their craft. Geared toward readers and writers of YA fiction ages 12 and up.

Melissa Walker is the author of Small Town Sinners, the Violet on the Runway series and Lovestruck Summer. She has worked as ELLEgirl Features Editor and Seventeen Prom Editor. Melissa manages I Heart Daily, an e-newsletter and blogs for ReaderGirlz, an online community for teens. A Chapel Hill, NC native, Melissa now lives in Brooklyn, NY.  www.melissacwalker.com

Barry Lyga is the author of several acclaimed young adult novels, including The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl. He now knows way too much about how to dispose of a human body. Barry lives and writes in New York City. His website is www.barrylyga.com.

Michael Northrop’s first young adult novel, Gentlemen, earned him a Publishers Weekly Flying Start citation, and his second, Trapped, was an Indie Next List pick and an ALA/YALSA Readers’ Choice List selection. His middle-grade novel, Plunked, was named to the New York Public Library’s 100 Titles for Reading and Sharing in 2012. He is originally from Salisbury, Connecticut, a small town in the foothills of the Berkshire mountains, where he mastered the arts of BB gun shooting, tree climbing, and field goal kicking with only moderate injuries. After graduating from NYU, he worked at The World Almanac and Sports Illustrated Kids, where he was a senior editor from 2000 to 2008. His articles and stories have been published widely.
