About the Book:

Through vivid, layered art and simple, lyrical text, Why Am I Me? invites readers to imagine a world where there is no You, no Me, only WE. As a young boy and a young girl travel their city, asking themselves the big questions about life, they draw closer together, realizing all humans are more alike than they are different. Why Am I Me? helps parents and gatekeepers answer the tough questions young readers raise about identity, family, and race while fostering a much-needed sense of connection.
