Lucy has woken up on the wrong side of the bed, and porcupines, elephants, and other crazy creatures don’t make her day any easier!

About The Wrong Side of the Bed:

“[A] madcap riff on the having-a-bad-day-theme… Lucy’s day ends as unpleasantly as it started, but when morning arrives, Bakos hints that flexibility can help conquer a bad day—when life gives you one slipper, she suggests, maybe reach for your galoshes instead.” —Publishers Weekly “A menagerie of mayhem-causing animals causes Lucy to have a very bad day. … Each new animal-driven misery adds to the cumulative refrain.” —Kirkus Reviews

Have you ever woken up on the wrong side of the bed? Did it involve sharing your breakfast with a bear, missing the bus with an elephant, and sharing tutus with a hippo? In The Wrong Side of the Bed by Lisa M. Bakos and illustrated by Anna Raff, Lucy wakes up in a grumpy mood that is only exasperated by the mayhem-causing animals she encounters throughout the day. Will Lucy be able to turn her all-wrong day into an all-right one?

Lucy knows that some days are simply destined to be rotten, and today is a doozy. The porcupine under the covers insists on snuggling, penguins make bubbles in her bath, and a crocodile wants to borrow her toothbrush—no thanks! But then Lucy decides to do something about it.

With a soft watercolor palette and a special talent for surprising details, illustrator Anna Raff paints a quirky assortment of havoc-wreaking critters who inspire Lucy—and reader—to make even rotten days fun.
